How to inactivate negative thoughts or beliefs

Hiya Herd:

We'd like to introduce a simple tool to you called The Inactive Box which we learned from Abraham Hicks.  It is, in essence,
a symbolic gesture to render inactive any concern, worry, negative belief, or judgement.

These thoughts and beliefs may come in the forms of stories you tell yourself or they could have been ingrained in you over the years by family and/or peers.

We'd like you to sift through your Belief Closet as you would your clothes or hall closet.

Those closets are full but how many of those items do you actually use?  How many of them actively serve you?

Probably just a fraction.

I moved not too long ago and it shocked me to discover how many items I had placed in storage.  I had completely forgotten about these items.  Out of sight, out of mind.

The same can be applied to your thoughts.

Why take them out and regularly display them if they don’t make you feel good?  If they don’t serve you?

So, let’s put these negative beliefs into storage, shall we?

The Inactive Box

1, The first step is to find a box or container to place your negative thoughts.  Keep it someplace visible and accessible to serve as a reminder of its purpose.  I decided to wrap mine (see above) to make it decorative but you don't have to.  I also created a slot so that one a thought goes in there, it doesn't come back out!

2. When you catch yourself in a moment of not feeling good (worried, frustrated, angry, depressed), pause and isolate the feeling.  Ask yourself what is the subject that is prompting these thoughts and feelings.

3. Take a sticky, note card, or slip of paper and write the following on it:

"It is my intention to render inactive “worrying about what others think, projecting my negative thoughts onto others, feeling unworthy of good things, etc."

4. Fold it up and place it in the slot.  It’s like you are throwing it away.

This process takes your focus off the contrast in your life and allows you to see and appreciate the positive.  It enables you to allow the good and see opportunities where you thought there was only judgment.

Out of sight out of mind.  It works!

Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

Much love,
Carolyn

My love/hate relationship with Contrast

3/29/2022

Comments

Hiya Herd,

Do you have a frenemy?  You know, a love/hate relationship with someone or something?

I do and her name is Contrast.

Contrast shows up for me in things I dislike such as this ridiculous, you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me cold snap this week.

Sometimes, it feels like Contrast won’t leave me the eff alone, but when I take a step back, I can appreciate her.

Why?

Contrast shows me what I desire by giving me what I don’t want.

I don’t like the cold.  I’ve tolerated it my entire life.  On Monday while running around NYC in sub degree temps, I decided that I am through with tolerating.

Now, this change won’t be overnight, but when our kids have graduated, we are going to explore warmer options.  Maybe that means becoming snowbirds with super flexible jobs or just changing careers and lifestyles altogether.

But I am DONE dressing for the tundra in March.

And I have Contrast to thank for that.

I feel really positive about this decision.  I’ll even go so far as to say I have a healthy dose of anticipation around this next adventure that is still a couple of years away in the making.  Will it be the Carolinas?  Or Southern California?  Hell, maybe our next adventure awaits us in a different country altogether.

To be clear, contrast doesn’t show up to mess with you although it can seem that way in the moment.  Like when I couldn’t feel my face, or hands, or feet on Monday.

It simply helps  give you direction to make decisions.

In essence, it’s a really effective tool for creating the life you want.

What’s your contrast showing you?

Maybe it’s that you are ready for a career change (stay tuned for our upcoming April 26th Sister Talk with Cynthia Johnson of Elephant In The Room Design for inspiration!) or a new look.

Whatever it is, pay attention.  Take note. And adjust your sails accordingly.

On March 31st at 7pm, we teach how to use the contrast in your life to manifest your desires in Get Inspired: Writing for Clarity Workshop.  It’s virtual and you can register here.

With love and warmer days to come,
Carolyn

Stuck in a rut? Here is our#1 way to feel inspired

Dear Herd Sister:

"What would you do if you were stuck in one place, and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?"

This is the question Bill Murray's depressed character asks while stuck in his endless loop in the iconic film, Groundhog's Day.

Look, I know it's not Groundhog's Day but it sure seems like it.  Spring is around the corner, but the trees are still bare and I'm still in boots and a jacket.

Just like we witnessed in Groundhog's Day, the movie, Bill Murray only broke out of his repetitive rut by transforming himself, not the elements around him.

So while we can't change the weather, spring is the ideal time to identify the areas of your life that are in need of perking up. If you can relate to any of the following questions, then read on!
  • Are you bored out of your skull?
  • Do you need inspiration?
  • Do you have a goal that’s in the back of your mind that you aren’t manifesting?
  • Are you just plain stuck in the hamster wheel of life?  Or shall I say Groundhog?  Every day seems just like the day before...

The key to getting out of a rut is to get clarity around what you want in your life, what brings you joy and then taking steps to get there.

And our number one tried and true way to get clarity is.... you guessed it, writing!

Writing is like meditation.  You enter with way too many tabs open with thoughts running amok, and emerge with crystal clear clarity.

If you are one to internalize fears and emotions, writing can be so therapeutic as well!

To follow are 3 writing suggestions to help get you out of that rut:

1) Friday Journal Prompts:  If you are writing-averse or just need help getting started, take advantage of our friday journal promtps posted on Instagram and Facebook.  All it takes is 10 minutes, once a week!

2) Gratitude Journal: I am also a big believer in this!  When I take a few minutes out of my day to acknowledge the things, people, conversations, and situations that put a smile on my face, I automatically think about inviting more of those instances into my life.  It puts me in such a good head space that I find myself looking for the good in my day and less bothered by the rest.  Just shoot for 5 reasons to be thankful per day!  It can be as simple as, "I found a great parking spot!"

3) Writing for Clarity Workshop Think of it as finding and shining a spotlight on your goals and then actualizing your dreams.  In this revelatory and catchartic workshop, you'll take part in dual-part writing exercise to use the contrast in your current reality to gain clarity and to bring more of what YOU want into your life.  To be clear, this is not a memoir class and you do not have to share.  Our next workshop is March 31st via Zoom.  Click here to learn more.

With love & inspiration,
Carolyn

5 Step Practice To Be A Master Manifestor

3/1/2022

The limits you have in your life are created by the limits you place in your mind.

Picture
How big are your dreams? How clear are they?  Do they come with conditions?  Do they get pushed aside, taking second place to all the issues and problems that you don’t want?

We get it.  Been there!  And because we love our Herd, we’d like to share our 5 Step Practice for becoming a Master Manifestor:

1. Get clear.  Clarity is key because you don’t want your dreams getting mixed up with your piles of dirty laundry that need addressing.  Declutter your mind and focus on the dream.

2. Remove limits.  Never place conditions or limits on your dreams.  You want the house with pool and tennis courts but are dreaming about the cute 3 BR cape on the corner because the taxes are lower and well that just seems a lot more realistic?  Seriously?!   Go big or go home, Girl.

3. See it.  Feel it.  Smell it.  Know it.  You’ve got to not only picture it, but you’ve got to FEEL it.  Use all your God-given senses for this one.  What does it feel like to strut into that house and know that it’s yours?  What’s that you hear?  Strains of salsa music coming from the pool?  Oh that must be Pepe, your hot pool boy gearing up for your salsa lesson with mojito in hand. How’s that for imagination?

4.Practice, practice, practice.  How did Mozart become a virtuoso?  How did Edison perfect the light bulb?  Practice, People!  It takes dedication and repetition to fine-tune your imagination into a manifesting machine.

5. Top it all off with a dollop of gratitude.  Always be grateful.  Never entitled!  Like you’ve won the Price is Right.  Every. Single. Day.

That right there, my friend, is your magic elixir for manifesting.  Co-creating, aka manifesting, is our favorite practice to invite desired change and live an inspired life. As a co-creator, your power is infinite. You can create that which you CLEARLY envision, and the only limitation is your own imagination.

What are you co-creating?  We would love to hear about it in the comments.
