Getting back into work mode after a break can be hard. It happens to all of us. Staying motivated during this time of the year can be difficult. We find these three steps help us overcome holiday motivation slumps.
Realize That Time is a Limited Resource
Time management experts across the board say that taking an honest assessment of how we spend our time can increase productivity without increasing the number of hours in our days. This allows us to gather our thoughts, create a daily game plan, and start the day with focus instead of frenzy.
Realizing that we don’t have endless amounts of time we can being to prioritize the most important things up front. Over time, this means you’ll get more done, spend less time looking busy and have more time on what matters to you. Improving our quality of life through prioritization is a great motivating factor and will help maintain a more consistent level of effort pre/post-holiday breaks.
Practice Compartmentalization
This means cultivating the mental ability to put things away instead of letting them bleed over. As women, we often get caught in these endless thought loops about what other needs versus what we need. We are managing work. home, life and on and on. Learning to compartmentalize means eliminating that little voice and instead focusing on the task at hand. Be present and give each task/moment its own space. Allowing ourselves to jump of the treadmill of distraction gives us room for whole thoughts and activities from beginning to end. Motivating, right?
Focus On What You Do Best
Think about all the things you do in a day. If you find your personal motivation slipping, consider that it might be directly related to the portion of your day spent on stuff you hate or you aren’t that good at. Really consider how fruitful are the activities you spent most your time on. Focusing on what you do best and embracing the right to say “no” to all the other tasks will became a pro-growth strategic decision.
So welcome the holidays and know that you are ready to stay on track. #MondayMotivatoin
