As I begin my week of working from home while kids are on a for Spring Break "staycation" I keep reminding myself of this thought by Catherine Wallace.
The reality is that 10 years from now it wont matter what client I made wait for a few minutes while I engaged with my kids that extra moment or two. It will make a big difference to the attentive and confident adults I hope I am raising.
It may not always be easy to really listen (to wait for kids to finish a full thought instead of responding to their statements before they are even completed) but it will be worth it.
This week I am going to challenge myself to listen earnestly and truly acknowledge what they are experiencing.
Wish me luck!
As most of us are maybe a little slower this Monday with one less hour of sleep (thank you daylight savings) it is making me reflect on how I manage my allotted hours each day.
In reality we can't make more of it or less of it we just can chose to do what we can with it. For many of us we chose to let our non-critical "to-do's" takeover our days instead of dedicating time to accomplishing our more passion driven goals.
This week I'm challenging us to rethink about how we spend our hours. Instead of getting a laundry list of non-essential tasks accomplished each day let's devote time to projects and moments that engage us. And, if we don't have a clear vision or dream of what we want to accomplish let's not allow ourselves to fall into a comfort zone of daily tasks. Let's push ourselves to use our hours in a way that says "I want to do more, I want to be more."
Today we celebrate inspiring women everywhere. How will you celebrate the women in your life? How will you celebrate yourself? Let us know! Happy #InternationalWomen'sDay from Inspired Elephant! #IWD2016
It's only lunch time and I can't count how many “I hate Monday” posts I've already seen on Facebook.
Now, I admit I wasn’t always a Monday lover. I used to loathe it just like everyone else. However, once I realized that my despise of Monday was a result of my own doing, I made a conscience effort to make a change and turn my thought process around.
How could I hate Monday when it’s filled with so many possibilities? You don't need a New Year to start over we just need a Monday to snap us back into action.
I now truly believe that what you do and how you feel on Monday can set the tone for the whole week, which leads to a good month, to good year, and so on. I know that’s easier said than done if you have a job you’re not crazy about. So if doing something you love at work on a Monday isn’t possible, I suggest doing something you love to do at home. You can declare Monday the night you make your favorite foods for dinner, family game night or the day you take up a new hobby.
Whatever you do I encourage all of us to embrace the possibilities of a new week. You got this, go be inspiring!
