Hiya Herd, Change is in the air. Are you feeling it? I don’t know about you but work has picked up, we finally painted the walls in our home (total game changer!), and in the US, we are ushering in a new presidential cabinet this week. Ironically, change was my word for 2020 (you can read that post here). Last January, Cher and I suggested ditching the resolutions and choosing a word or mantra instead. Ummm...I’m pretty sure I nailed it, don’t you?! Last year brought so much unprecedented change with the pandemic. Thankfully, it’s time for a new word! After much inner debate (after all, it’s so hard to choose just one!), I have decided on flow. After 2020 turned things upside down, this word brings to mind a gentle stream trickling over smooth rocks and round pebbles —always moving and never upstream. There is no resistance or forcing with flow. The water goes in the path of least resistance effortlessly. I want my life in 2021 to flow in a similar fashion. |
For me, and likely you too, 2020 was a year filled with so much contrast. But in all of that, I managed to find some positives and eventually, shift and go where the flow allowed me. I learned to stop resisting and just do what I could at the time. I didn’t force my will and I have come to learn that that is a recipe for life.
Oddly enough, when I choose to flow, I feel more in control than when i am fighting something. I may not be in control of the situation but I am very much in control of how I am choosing to respond.
In a year where everything felt out of control, learning to flow is what saved my sanity.
What about you? Have you come up with a theme for the year yet? If you haven’t, please check out our 5 Easy Steps to Choosing Your Word of the Year. Either way, please share your word and your process with us below in the comments. Maybe your word will inspire someone else to find hers.
Regardless of your chosen word for 2021, I invite you to allow more flow in to your life too. Stop swimming upstream, drop your paddles, grab a float, and enjoy the ride.
With so much love,
Carolyn
