Hey Herd Sis,
My SO and I moved and blended our homes a little over 6 months ago. While we are mostly settled, there is still so much STUFF laying around.
I am determined to get rid of the remaining boxes before we hit the 1-year mark. Big goals, I know!
However, eliminating these boxes means I have to find space for these items or toss them. Now don’t get me wrong, I am the Queen of Purging. It just takes time.
As I go through this exercise, it honestly looks more like my basement projectile vomited than the orderly process you see on Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.
I’m not cool with sharing my messes, so here is a carefully curated image to demonstrate my point:
Okay, so maybe the room doesn't look exactly like this but THIS is how it makes me FEEL.
If you have a closet that is starting to overflow to the point that you avoid it altogether or a junk drawer that has steadily begun oozing out onto your kitchen countertop, then you get what I am saying.
Clutter brings on stress.
Let’s be honest. It’s a challenge to effectively organize your space when you:
All of this leads to overall confusion. "Um, why did I walk into this room again???"
Think the effects of clutter aren’t real? Think again.
One study done at UCLA showed that clutter significantly affects our moods and self-esteem by correlating high cortisol levels with high household object density.
Another study conducted at Princeton University revealed that physical clutter competes for your attention, negatively impacting your focus and productivity while increasing stress.
Now consider this impact when many of us have been living AND working from home for over a year.
Yikes! Girls, it is time to spring clean our homes, our moods, our productivity, and our lives!
Spring cleaning is a thing for a reason. Transformation is the air. It’s a time of letting go and allowing newness to blossom.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 28th at 7pm EST!
Live from your computer screens or phones; we are going to dive headfirst into these piles and learn how to organize together with Professional Organizer Megan Guarnieri, aka Little Miss Perfect.

Let’s be honest. It’s a challenge to effectively organize your space when you:
- have too many things or no use for them. "Where will these things live?"
- are unable to locate these items when you need them. "Now, where did I put that thingamajig?"
- feel buyer's remorse over not using them. "But I paid good money for this!"
All of this leads to overall confusion. "Um, why did I walk into this room again???"
