Hey Herd Sis,

Spring has finally sprung!  And the exciting thing about spring is that it’s all about renewal.

As warmer days start to creep in with buds forming on trees, our minds shift to summer plans, vacation, and getting outside in nature.  For some that may mean beaches and for others, mountains or lakes.

Regardless of your geography or preference, change and potential is in the air!

After months of being inside with many of us, including our kids, spending hours in front of a screen, the simple act of taking a walk outside can really do wonders.

Studies show that a 20-minute walk in nature can:
  • calm anxious thoughts
  • refocus your mind
  • spark creativity
  • raise self-esteem
  • brighten your mood
  • improve sleep quality
  • reduce stress and fatigue

Every Wednesday morning, Cher and I have our weekly Inspired Meeting where we plan, collaborate, and keep each other accountable for our tasks and goals.

Sometimes this meeting is via Zoom where we can update things as we talk, take notes, etc.

Lately though, we've been taking our meetings outside.

It is so refreshing to start the day like this!

I swear, we come up with more creative solutions while hoofing it outdoors than we do in our offices.

To keep things interesting, we'll sometimes switch up our route or grab a warm beverage-to-go from our local coffee shop (as evidenced to the right).

If you find yourself in a creative rut, bad headspace, or just need a change, take a walk!

Go solo, grab a friend or 2, make it a family activity, or bring a furry friend along.  Any way you do it, walking is good for you!

Walking is a repetitive act, making it an ideal conduit for meditation, self-reflection, and coming up with new ideas.  It's a form of mental cleansing!

So, if you are like me and find yourself telling your kids to get outdoors, follow your own advice.  Walk the walk, as they say!

You won't regret this simple yet empowering act of self-care.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes in the comments below.

With you every step of the way,
C&C
